Bioinformatician (f/m/d) for Neuropathology
Part-time | Location: Hamburg-Eppendorf
This project is a third-party funded project, initially limited to 2.5 years and with 75 percent of the regular weekly working time.
At the Institute of Neuropathology, we are involved in research into neurodegenerative diseases, one of the most common of which is Alzheimer’s dementia, which affects over 50 million people worldwide. The position advertised here also relates to this important area of research. You will work in a dynamic team with international students and scientists. We are looking for people who feel comfortable in our team and who want to advance our projects together with us.
This project focuses on high throughput data analysis of transcriptomics, proteomics, single cell sequencing data and digital neuropathologyfrom brains with familial Alzheimer’s disease.
Demonstrated skills and knowledge in biostatistics and biomedical data processing.
Experience and knowledge in multiomics data analysis, with emphasis in proteomics and single cell transcriptomics.
Knowledge in large scale image analysis.
Prior experience in large-scale data processing and statistics / machine learning.
Programing skills in Python, handling of Jupyter Notebook and R platforms, analytic experience with Seurat and associated packages.
Experience in data dimensionality reduction data presentation and web site interfaces.
What we look forward for in a candidate
A PhD, MSc or equivalent degree in biostatistics / machine learning, computational biology or bioinformatics.
Prior knowledge and experience with basic molecular biology bioinformatics and data analysis, some experience with single cell sequencing data analysis and machine learning are required for this application.
Communication with the group leader and joint meetings will be in English, a good understanding and ability to express oneself in this language is required. As a full partner in the team, you will actively participate in many meetings.
Willingness to learn, communication skills, self-reliance.
